Overview
The Arrival Guide is whatever you pin from the Property Guide to show up on a guest's My Stay tab. It's not a separate document — pinning is a flag on each guide section. Pin the sections that matter during the trip; leave the rest in the full guide where guests can find them under About this stay.
How it works
Pinning a section
From the property guide editor:
- Open the section you want surfaced on My Stay.
- Toggle Pin to My Stay.
- Save.
The next time any guest opens that property's stay portal, the section appears as a card on My Stay alongside Access, Welcome, and the other phase-driven cards.
What to pin
Pin sections a guest needs to see during the trip — parking, dishwasher quirks, hot tub instructions, garbage day, the gate code prompt. Don't pin reference material that's nice-to-have but not action-driving (local restaurant lists, host bio, marketing copy). Those belong in the full guide.
Order
Pinned sections render in the order they appear in the Property Guide (group + sort_order). To re-order on My Stay, re-order in the editor — there's no separate Arrival Guide order.
Defaults
A few section types default to pinned: welcome, arrival_instructions, certain access_notes. Most other types default to unpinned — including house_rules and parking, which historically pinned by default but no longer do (host pin them explicitly).
Override panel
The host override panel (per-stay overrides) is filtered to pinned-only. The reasoning: you almost always want to override what the guest sees on My Stay, not the long-tail guide. To override a non-pinned section for a single stay, pin it first.
Limits and requirements
- Plan: Pinning is included on every plan.
- No limit on how many sections you pin. But: a My Stay full of cards defeats the purpose of phase-driven surfacing. Keep it tight.
FAQ
What's the difference between Arrival Guide and the full Property Guide?
The Property Guide is everything. The Arrival Guide is the pinned subset that surfaces on the guest's My Stay tab. Same data, different visibility.
Why doesn't house_rules pin by default?
It used to. Hosts told us they'd rather opt in than opt out — a house_rules section pinned by default cluttered My Stay for properties that managed rules differently. So we flipped the default. Pin it manually if you want it on My Stay.
Can I pin one section for guests but not for cleaners?
The cleaner pack page doesn't render guide sections — only access slots — so the question doesn't apply directly. If you mean per-audience visibility within the guest portal: that's per-section visibility, not pinning. See per-section visibility.
My pinned change isn't showing up — why?
Either you didn't save (re-open the section and confirm the toggle is on) or the guest had the stay portal cached. Refresh on the guest side, or the next time they open the link it'll be fresh.
Can I pin a non-section card?
No — the My Stay card model is per-section. Free-form pinned cards (a one-off "Welcome, the gate is broken today" note) get created as a new section of type plain and pinned. The editor's per-group Add button makes this fast.
