Overview

Valzotra includes a built-in messaging system that lets you communicate with guests directly from your dashboard. Messages are organized as per-property conversation threads, so each guest has a dedicated thread tied to their stay at a specific property.

How it works

  1. Open a property from the sidebar and navigate to Messages.
  2. You see a list of conversation threads — one per guest with an active or past stay.
  3. Click a thread to view the full message history and send new messages.
  4. When you send a message, the guest receives an email notification with your message content.
  5. When a guest replies, you receive an email notification and the message appears in the thread.

Threads are scoped to a single property. If the same guest stays at two of your properties, there are two separate threads.

Limits & requirements

  • Messaging is available on the Host and Portfolio plans. It is not available on the Comply plan.
  • Only you and team members with access to the property can view a property's message threads.
  • The specific guest can only see their own thread — not other guests' conversations.
  • Team members see threads based on their role and property assignments.

FAQ

Can I message a guest before their stay starts? Yes. Once a guest accepts their invitation, you can start a conversation thread with them at any time, even before the check-in date.

Can other guests see my messages to a specific guest? No. Each guest sees only their own conversation thread. Threads are private between you (and your team) and the individual guest.

Do messages work after a stay ends? The thread history is preserved and viewable, but active messaging is tied to the stay period. Once a stay ends, the conversation becomes read-only.

Is there a message length limit? There is no hard character limit on individual messages, but messages are intended for standard communication — not file transfers. Use the file upload features for sharing documents or images.
