Overview

Every property has house rules set by your host. These cover expectations for your stay — things like quiet hours, pet policies, parking, and check-in and check-out times. Reviewing the house rules before you arrive helps you avoid surprises and ensures a smooth stay.

How it works

  1. Sign in and navigate to the Property Info section of your dashboard.
  2. House rules are displayed within the property details. Your host may include them as a dedicated section or as part of the arrival guide.
  3. Review the rules before your stay begins. Common house rules include:

Check-in and check-out times

Your host sets specific check-in and check-out times to allow for cleaning and preparation between guests. These times are firm unless your host agrees to a change. If you need early check-in or late check-out, message your host in advance to ask — do not assume flexibility.

Noise and quiet hours

Many properties have quiet hours, typically in the evening and early morning. This is especially common in neighborhoods, condos, and multi-unit buildings. Your host specifies the exact hours in the house rules.

Pet policies

Some properties welcome pets while others do not allow them. If pets are allowed, there may be restrictions on size, breed, or number of animals. There may also be additional cleaning expectations or fees. Check the house rules before bringing a pet.

Parking

The house rules cover where to park, how many vehicles are allowed, and any restrictions (such as no street parking or assigned spots). Some properties have driveways or garages with specific instructions for use.

Smoking

Most properties do not allow smoking indoors. The house rules specify whether smoking is permitted on the property at all and, if so, where.

Maximum occupancy

Your host sets a maximum number of guests allowed. This is based on the property's capacity, local regulations, and safety considerations. Do not exceed the stated occupancy without your host's permission.

Other common rules

  • Trash and recycling procedures
  • Pool or hot tub usage rules
  • Thermostat and energy usage guidelines
  • No events or parties without prior approval
  • Specific instructions for locking up or arming security systems

FAQ

Where do I find the house rules? Sign in to your dashboard and navigate to Property Info. House rules are included in the property details your host has shared. You can also check the arrival guide.

What if I have a question about a specific rule? Message your host through the messaging feature. They can clarify any rule or discuss whether an exception is possible.

Can house rules change during my stay? Your host can update property info at any time, but significant rule changes during an active stay are uncommon. If something changes, your host typically communicates it via messaging.

What happens if I break a house rule? This depends on the rule and the host. For minor issues, your host may send a friendly reminder. For serious violations, your host may charge a fee or, in extreme cases, end the stay early. When in doubt, ask before you act.

Are house rules the same as the booking platform rules? Your host may have additional rules beyond what is listed on Airbnb, Vrbo, or another booking platform. The house rules in Valzotra are set by your host directly and may include property-specific details not shown on the listing.
