Overview

The Today page is your daily operations hub. Every reservation and task that needs your attention today lives here, in one consistent card shape, with a Message button on every card so you can reach the guest without leaving the page.

How it works

The reservation card

Every reservation on the Today page renders as the same card. The title reads:

Property → Main guest

The meta row underneath shows the booking platform, the dates, the night count, and the guest count:

Airbnb · Jun 2 → Jun 5 · 3 nights · 4 guests

To the right of the title you'll see up to two status pills:

  • A lifecycle pill (Awaiting acceptance / Invite accepted / Access sent / Completing checklist / Checklists complete) reflecting where the reservation sits in your prep flow.
  • An alert pill (Needs approval / New message) if there's something requiring action.

Click the chevron on the left to expand the card. The expansion shows two stacked lists:

  • Host outstanding items — checklists assigned to you or your team (cleaner turnover, maintenance walkthrough, etc.).
  • Guest outstanding items — guest checklists, waivers, ID uploads, and other guest-side work.

Each row uses the Unified Work Item card — same row format as the /tasks page. You'll see a HOST (blue) or GUEST (green) badge on every row so it's clear who owes the action.

Per-person attribution

When a guest checklist has a step that applies to each guest individually — like a waiver everyone signs — the row tells you which guest it's for. If the person is a minor on the reservation, you'll see a small minor, 8 badge so you know context at a glance. Example:

GUEST Guest Pre-Arrival Waiver — Mike Smith
GUEST Guest Pre-Arrival Waiver — Sarah Smith
GUEST Guest Pre-Arrival Waiver — Emma Smith (minor, 8)

The Message button

Every reservation card has a Message button in its action row. Click it and a drawer slides out from the right of the screen with the message history for that reservation. You stay on the Today page; your scroll position and any filters you've set don't move.

Inside the drawer, an AI Draft button generates a tone-appropriate reply (warm thank-you for check-out, welcome for check-in, gentle reminder for guest activity). You edit before sending. The AI Draft is plan-gated; if you're on Comply or Trial, the drawer opens read-only with an upgrade prompt instead.

For the full walkthrough, see Inline message drawer and AI Draft.

Sections you'll see

The Today page is organized in priority order:

  • Overdue — Host tasks past their due date. Each row is a Unified Work Item with a Dismiss button. Capped at 7; click "View all" to see the rest.
  • Needs Review — Reservations flagged by iCal sync (missed check-in, pending approval). These cards open expanded by default and are bordered in amber so you spot them first.
  • Checking Out — Reservations checking out today, bordered in teal.
  • Checking In — Reservations checking in today, bordered in blue.
  • Current Guests — Active stays, bordered in green.
  • Tasks Due — Host tasks due today, capped at 7.
  • Guest Activity — Reservations with outstanding guest items (waivers pending, checklists in progress). Cards open expanded by default with an amber border. The same reservation may appear here AND in Checking In/Out/Current — that's intentional. Each section answers a different question; you see all the angles at once.
  • Low stock — Inventory falling below threshold.
  • Open damage claims — Active claims linked to a property. Click a row to view the claim; use the damage Message button to contact the guest.

Stat gauges sidebar

A sidebar shows progress for the day: arrivals, departures, current guests, overdue tasks, due-today tasks, damage claims, low-stock items, and compliance gaps. The numbers are live — they update as you check items off.

Property filter

The filter at the top of the page scopes everything to specific properties. Useful when you have multiple rentals and want to focus on one.

Operations vs management view

What you see depends on your role:

  • Operations view (Cleaner, Maintenance) — Only tasks and checklists assigned to you. Streamlined layout.
  • Management view (Owner, Admin, Manager) — Full dashboard with all properties, stat gauges, Needs Review, and the compliance section. Default for anyone with management responsibilities.

Limits and requirements

  • The Overdue and Tasks Due sections each cap at 7 rows. Click View all to see the rest on the /tasks page.
  • Guest Activity caps at 5 reservations. Anything beyond shows up only on /reservations.
  • The Message drawer requires the messaging feature, included on Host and Portfolio plans. Comply and Trial plans see the drawer open in read-only mode with an upgrade prompt.
  • AI Draft requires the messaging feature. Drafts are powered by Claude Haiku and tuned per-surface (different tone for check-in vs check-out vs needs-review).

FAQ

Why does the same reservation show up in Checking In and Guest Activity?

Each Today section answers a different question. Checking In is "who's arriving today." Guest Activity is "whose guest-side checklist has outstanding work." A reservation can be both — and showing it twice means you don't have to mentally cross-reference. Each card shows the right context for its section.

Where did the small envelope icon next to "Steps" go?

It used to live on every checklist row inside an expanded reservation card. That created two Message buttons for the same reservation — the card's button and the row's button. The row button was removed in the unified reservation card release; the card's Message button is the one that opens the drawer.

Why are HOST and GUEST badges different colors?

Blue (badge-info) for HOST, green (badge-success) for GUEST. They're distinct so you can scan a long expansion list and instantly see which items are yours vs which are the guest's. Status is conveyed by both color AND text per our accessibility standard.

Can I rearrange the Today sections?

Not yet. The priority order (Overdue → Needs Review → Check-out → Check-in → Current → Tasks Due → Guest Activity → ...) reflects what most hosts need to see first. If you want a different order, drop a note via the in-app support chat and we'll consider it.

What does "Dismiss" do on an Overdue task?

It cancels that checklist run. The task disappears from Today + Tasks. You'll find it later under the History tab on /tasks. Use it for tasks that no longer make sense (the guest cancelled, the issue resolved itself, etc.).
