Overview
Your profile and settings control how Valzotra identifies you, how you log in, and how the app behaves for your account. You can update your display name, email address, password, notification preferences, and display options from the Settings pages.
How it works
Profile settings
Navigate to Settings > Profile to manage your identity:
- Full name -- your display name shown to team members and in activity logs. Update it and click Save Name.
- Email address -- your login email and where notifications are sent. To change it, enter the new email and click Update Email. The change takes effect immediately.
- Password -- click Change Password and enter a new password (minimum 8 characters). You must confirm the password by entering it twice.
Preferences
Navigate to Settings > Preferences to customize your experience:
- Default landing page -- the page you see after logging in. Options: Today, Properties, Financials, or Compliance.
- Date format -- choose between MM/DD/YYYY and DD/MM/YYYY. This affects how dates are displayed throughout the dashboard.
- Compact tables -- reduces row height in data tables for denser information display.
Notification preferences
Also in Settings > Preferences, you can toggle:
- Email notifications -- receive email alerts for important updates (team activity, reservation changes).
- Checklist reminders -- get notified about upcoming and overdue checklists assigned to you or your properties.
- Low stock alerts -- receive notifications when inventory items fall below their reorder thresholds.
Security settings
Navigate to Settings > Security to manage multi-factor authentication (MFA):
- Enroll in TOTP-based MFA using an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password).
- MFA is optional for regular users but required for superadmin access to the ops panel.
- See Security & Privacy for more details.
Privacy settings
Navigate to Settings > Privacy to manage consent records and data rights:
- View your current consent status for Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, bank data access, and marketing emails.
- Opt in or out of marketing emails.
- Revoke bank data access consent if you have connected bank accounts.
- Download your data or request account deletion.
How settings affect reporting
Your date format preference determines how dates appear in expense reports, revenue summaries, and compliance documentation. Your timezone (set during account creation) affects how timestamps are displayed and how daily boundaries are calculated for reporting periods.
Limits & requirements
- Email addresses must be unique across all Valzotra accounts.
- Passwords must be at least 8 characters.
- Changing your email does not require re-verification in the current flow.
- Preferences are per-user and do not affect other team members in your organization.
- Notification preferences control in-app and email notifications. They do not affect what data is recorded.
FAQ
Does changing my name affect past records? Your display name update takes effect everywhere it is shown going forward. Historical audit log entries and checklist completion records reference your user account, so they will reflect the updated name.
Can I change my email to one already used by another account? No. Each email address can only be associated with one Valzotra account. If you need to use an email that is already registered, the other account must be deleted first.
Do my preferences affect other team members? No. Landing page, date format, compact tables, and notification toggles are personal settings. Each team member configures their own preferences independently.
What happens if I turn off email notifications? You will stop receiving email alerts but will still see in-app notifications in the dashboard. Important system messages (password resets, email changes) are always sent regardless of this setting.
