Overview

ArrivHQ keeps you informed about your stay through two channels: email notifications and push notifications. Email goes to your inbox. Push notifications appear instantly on your phone or computer -- like a text message -- even when you are not looking at ArrivHQ.

Push notifications are the fastest way to know when your host sends a message, updates your check-in details, or assigns a new checklist.

How it works

Enabling push notifications

  1. Open your stay in ArrivHQ.
  2. At the top of the page, you see a blue card that says "Stay in the loop -- Get notified about your stay."
  3. Tap Enable notifications.
  4. Your browser asks for permission. Tap Allow.
  5. You now receive push notifications for this device.

If you dismissed the prompt, it reappears after 14 days. To reset it sooner, clear your browser data for arrivhq.com.

What you get notified about

  • Messages -- when your host sends you a message
  • Checklists -- when a new checklist is assigned or a deadline approaches
  • Stay updates -- changes to your check-in or check-out details

Installing ArrivHQ for the best experience

On iPhone and iPad, push notifications only work when ArrivHQ is installed to your home screen. To install:

  1. Open Safari and go to your stay page.
  2. Tap the Share button (square with an upward arrow).
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add.

Now open ArrivHQ from your home screen and enable notifications when prompted. You get a full-screen app experience and instant alerts.

On Android, Chrome shows an install prompt automatically. On desktop, look for the install icon in the address bar.

Managing email notifications

  1. Tap your avatar in the top corner.
  2. Go to Settings or Account.
  3. In the Notifications section, toggle the types of email notifications you want.
  4. Save your changes.

Changes take effect immediately.

Limits & requirements

  • Push notifications require granting browser permission. If you deny it, ArrivHQ cannot send push alerts.
  • On iPhone/iPad, push requires the app to be installed to your home screen via Safari. Chrome and Firefox on iOS do not support push.
  • Email notifications go to the email address on your ArrivHQ account.
  • Notifications are only sent for active and upcoming stays. Once a stay ends, you do not receive further alerts.

FAQ

What is the difference between email and push notifications? Email notifications arrive in your inbox and you read them when you check your email. Push notifications appear instantly on your device -- as a banner on your lock screen or a popup -- even when ArrivHQ is not open. Push is faster.

Can I turn off push notifications? Yes. On your device, go to your notification settings for the ArrivHQ app (or your browser) and disable notifications. You can also revoke permission in your browser settings.

I enabled notifications but I am not receiving them. Make sure you allowed notifications when your browser asked. On iPhone, make sure you installed ArrivHQ to your home screen first -- push does not work in Safari alone. Also check that your device's Do Not Disturb mode is not active.

Do I get notifications for past stays? No. Notifications are only sent for active and upcoming stays.

I dismissed the notification prompt. How do I get it back? The prompt reappears after 14 days. To see it sooner, clear your browser's stored data for arrivhq.com (Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data on iPhone).
